TYF Schools is a free, classroom-based life skills development course. Led by teachers, it enables students to build healthy habits and a practical toolkit for building resilience, emotional intelligence, and positive mental health and wellbeing. Classroom content has been developed using positive and sport psychology principles and is supported by eight comprehensive lesson plans. The journey is enriched by personal insights from some of Ireland’s top rugby players, creating a relatable and inspiring experience for students.

Helps students define mental wellbeing, explore how thoughts and emotions shape health, and learn how aligning with personal values supports overall wellbeing.
This opening lesson will help students to define mental wellbeing. They will also explore how thoughts and emotions influence health and discover how living in alignment with their personal values can enhance their overall wellbeing
Students will use mindfulness to understand emotions, express them healthily, and cultivate self-compassion through guided exercises and discussions.
This lesson focuses on managing anger and stress, helping students understand emotions, their impact, and proactive coping strategies.
Students will explore confidence, optimism, and resilience, learning practical techniques to build self-belief and reinforce wellbeing through body language.
Through affirmations and self-reflection, students will strengthen resilience, push comfort zones and learn how to develop confidence for long-term emotional strength.
Students will discover the impact of nutrition, sleep, and boundaries on mental health, creating personalised self-care strategies for overall wellbeing in this lesson.
The final session helps students reflect on their progress, set future wellbeing goals, and celebrate their journey with mindfulness and a completion certificate.
Tackle Your Feelings is a mental health and well-being campaign, which supports individuals proactively looking after their mental well-being. With resources available covering happiness, optimism and resilience, join our community in taking control of your mental well-being. TYF is an all-island campaign run by Rugby Players Ireland in partnership with Zurich. The campaign features some of Ireland’s Rugby Players leading from the front, breaking down stigma and encouraging people to become more proactive about looking after their mental well-being on a daily basis.
The Tackle Your Feelings campaign is run by Rugby Players Ireland in partnership with Zurich. Ireland’s rugby players took on this project in order to use their unique platform in society to break down the stigma around mental wellbeing and dispel the myth of ‘macho’ being equated with never acknowledging or addressing emotions.
TYF recommends completing one lesson per week. The self-awareness exercises are quite short and we recommend you only complete one module per day. The completion of the whole programme depends on the deadlines you set for completing your personally-tailored Goals.
No. Users’ privacy and confidentiality are of paramount importance to TYF. Your information will be securely stored with the highest level of internet security and in such a way that no one person’s answers are linked to their user name or device identifier. We will be collecting data for impact measurement purposes around how users engage with the programme and the difference in wellbeing scores on start and completion of the lessons but all this data is completely ANONYMOUS and we cannot link a person’s answers with any identifying information about that person.
Yes. All the techniques employed in the app are evidence-based and grounded in sport psychology and positive psychology theory and empirical research.
